Shown on the maps below are various features and thematic overlays created by implementing SQL queries to select, manipulate and analyze the input features.

Using the Vertical Mapper extension of MapInfo, I was able to perform two versions of the same suitability analysis. One method followed a true/false convention while the other followed a ranking/weighting convention.

Suitability Analysis |
This poster displays the binary (true/false) method to select the suitable locations for a solar power plant in the Digby, Nova Scotia area. Once the various input features were reclassified, they were then overlapped to obtain the suitable locations. Displayed on the bottom of the poster is a flow chart showing the process used to find the suitable areas.

Shown on this poster is the ranking/weighting method used to find areas suitable for a solar power plant in Digby, Nova Scotia. The various input features were all reclassified using predetermined values to rank their suitability. Once completed, all features were overlaid to determine their combined suitability for a solar power plant. The flow chart on the bottom of the poster breaks down the process used to produce these areas.
